Did I really just see 7 of Jupiter’s moons with a 6-inch reflecting telescope?

I recently inherited a 6″ reflecting telescope and I’ve been having some fun with it! Tonight I observed Jupiter and I could resolve 2 reddish bands on the planet and I think 7 of her moons. I’m questioning myself.

Did I really see 7 moons or were they just super faint stars in the background? Is there an easy way to distinguish moons from stars? I also think I’ve observed Titan a few weeks ago near Saturn but I’m also questioning if that was a moon or a faint star…
