How well does the phantom energy / big rip model work?

There are 2 things i want to figure out

**0. Is there any good underlying theory for phantom energy?**

I found this overview where it didn’t look too promising but that’s just one analysis.

The problem here is that speculative physics papers tend to be very hard to read. I do have a bachelor mostly in mathematics and i have studies more on my own after that but i still often come across mathematics i don’t know much if anything about in those speculative papers.

**1. Would phantom energy (such as w = -1.03) alone resolve the Hubble tension?**
