Is an astronomy/astrophysics degree for me?

I have loved space and science my entire life. I always wanted to do something with it, particularly a research astronomer. However, of the subjects I excel at, math is maybe the lowest. I’m great at language and communicating, but math not so much. I certainly can’t understand it, I’m slower than others for a concept to click. I understand math would be a large part of what I do, however I don’t hate it – it’s pretty enjoyable when I understand it and it comes together.

Is this something a non math person should even maybe consider pursuing? I would love to do astronomy research/teaching, but the math side would be very difficult. If I did attempt, but dropped out after a few years would I basically have wasted that many years of my life?
