Is it possible that the 13.8 billion number for the big bang is just the distance of the farthest light ever to reach us and that there can be light from even further back which hasn’t reached us?

So I’m not really that into physics, astronomy, space, etc. But of course everyone is curious about random stuff at random times. So at the risk of sounding stupid to everyone here, is is possible that there is light that started 20,30,40 billion years ago but it’s still extremely far away for us to be able to detect it? Because if the 13.8 billion year mark of the Big Bang is just the time the farthest light we can see started, who’s to say there isn’t light ever farther away? Or am I stupid?
