Trying to decide between the Celestron Starsense LT80AZ, & DX102AZ

As the title reads, I’m trying to figure out how much of a real difference there is between these two telescopes.

This is going to be a gift for my mom, who really I just want her to be able to pick it up and use it. I narrowed down these 2 after a day of research. I didn’t want her to have to do much maintenance, and I will do the initial setup for her.

I like that these give her access to some features such as picking and choosing what she wants to see then navigating to it using the smartphone guide. When it comes to what I want to be able to do with this telescope, I do want her to be able to see the moon primarily, but also other planets or star formations, even if the detail is not that good. She’s never (not have I) ever used a telescope, so we will settle for any image, we just want to delve into the world of astronomy without breaking the bank. My budget for this is about $300-$350, and there’s a current “sale” at Amazon for the 102 for $315, vs $171 for the 80.

I can purchase a set of better lens later if necessary, but I really like the ease of use for these.

So that brings me to the question, what would be some real world differences between these two? From what I can gather the 102 should be able to have higher magnification, but I know those numbers are exaggerated anyway. I also know the build quality is better and you can make more micro adjustments in the 102.

Other than that, are the benefits really that much better by upgrading to the 102? Will the quality / detail be that much better?
